Even the “Purity From” party, with its strong denunciation of Christendom, is like a man who is so violently committed to being unlike his father that his father is still basically controlling his behavior. What does it mean to be “prophetic” from the center? It means to center our churches on the gospel, thereby producing a series of balances that the other approaches do not have. We should be neither separatist nor triumphalistic in relationship to our culture.
